Contempt of court
Any act involving disrespect to the court or failure to obey its rules or orders. Contempt of court carries a maximum of 30 days in jail.
Removal, order of
To send back; For example, an appellate court may remand a case to a lower court for retrial or for some change in disposition.
Quid pro quo
To overthrow; vacate; to annul or void a summons, indictment, bindover order or subpoena.
Affidavit
written and sworn statement witnessed by a notary public or another official possessing the authority to administer oaths. Affidavits may be admitted into evidence.
